Frequently asked questions

When and where is NSREC 2026?

July 20–24, 2026 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The host hotel is the Sheraton Puerto Rico Resort & Casino, directly across from the center.

Where do I register and pick up my badge?

The registration desk is on Level 2 of the Convention Center, open 7:30 AM–5:00 PM. Sunday check-in is at the Sheraton (Level 2). Please wear your badge for sessions, the exhibit hall, and the reception.

What’s the daily flow of the conference?

Monday is the one-day Short Course. The technical program runs Tuesday–Friday with oral sessions A–H, a poster session (Wednesday) and the Radiation Effects Data Workshop (Thursday). Breakfasts and breaks are provided; lunches are in the Exhibit Hall with the exhibitors.

Do I need a passport? What about money?

Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory: U.S. travelers need no passport, flights are domestic, and the currency is the U.S. dollar (no exchange needed). Cards are widely accepted.

What should I pack / what’s the dress code?

Late July is hot and humid (around 88°F / 31°C) with brief afternoon showers. Pack light, breathable business-casual clothing plus a layer for cool meeting rooms, sun protection, and comfortable shoes for Old San Juan’s cobblestones.

How do I get around the venue and the city?

See the Getting Around the Venue guide for where each function is held by level, and Plan Your Visit for the city map. Uber and taxis are widely available; Old San Juan is best on foot.

Is there a companion / family program?

Yes — an Old San Juan walking tour (Tue), a Casa Bacardí distillery tour (Wed, 18+), and the Conference Social at the Caribe Hilton (Wed evening). Details on the Social Program page.

I’m presenting — what should I know?

Oral presentations are 12 minutes. Posters are displayed for the Wednesday poster session, and Data Workshop papers are presented Thursday. Check your session page for your exact time and room.

Accessibility?

The Convention Center and host hotels are wheelchair accessible. Old San Juan has historic cobblestones and hills, so allow extra time; on companion tours, wheelchairs and strollers can be stored in the bus luggage compartment. Questions? Ask at the registration desk.

Where can I find the hotel block and registration?

See the Accommodation and Registration pages on this site for the room block, rates, and deadlines. Book early — the NSREC room block is limited.
